Testimonials from Patient Families and Referral Sources
"I am writing on behalf of my entire family to express our sincere gratitude for the care that my father, Kevin Newman received during a recent admission to the inpatient geriatric psychiatric unit. Kevin suffered from Alzheimer's disease and was transferred from Norwalk Hospital for medication adjustment due to increasingly aggressive behaviors. His medical team made several thoughtful changes to his regimen with initial significant behavioral improvement, however he had considerable and rapid physical decline during his admission. The medical team was respectful and supportive of our goals of care of avoiding another inpatient medical hospitalization and prioritizing his comfort. Over several days where his prognosis and disposition were unclear, Social Workers Antoinette and Sandy were supportive and worked with us to look into options for transferring my dad closer to home.
By far the most outstanding members of Kevin's care team, though, were the nurses and aides caring for him at the bedside. The sincere kindness and care they showed both him and us was remarkable. From excellent skin care and hygiene to keeping his room warm to taking our frequent calls for updates and allow our visits outside of traditional visiting hours to checking in on all of us and asking how we were coping - your team adapted seamlessly to an atypical situtation with the utmost grace and compassion and truly embodied excellence in nursing care. It was incredibly difficult for us to be so far away (an hour and half drive) but we have all reflected on how we found comfort in knowing he was in such capable hands and was shown was tenderness by your staff. Kevin passed away peacefully and comfortably in the early morning hours of January 29th under the care of your team.
In display of our deepest appreciation, we would like to send a gift to directly benefit your amazing staff. I look forward to working with you to sort out the details. In the interim, please kindly share this letter with the staff."
Sincerely, B.D., PA-C (daughter) & Family; J.N. (wife); J.N., RN (Daughter); and B.N. (Son)

"I don't feel like words can express how extremely grateful we are for the wonderful care mom received during her stay at Connecticut Behavioral Health Hospital. I know she was a handful at time, but the way she was cared for made me feel secure in my decision that she was where she needed to be. She is settling into her new facility. We will remain forever grateful for the care she received from ALL of you!!!" C.Y. (Daughter)

"You have really been wonderful and kept me (relatively) sane through this whole process - I know you too, must have a case load that is overwhelmng, but you are compassionate, communicative, and available for questions and that for me, is all I have ever asked of anyone dealing with my mom! Thank you so much - I appreciate you more than you know." Grateful Family Member
