The Connecticut Behavioral Health Hospital is devoted to providing outstanding quality care and safety to our patients. Care is prioritized based on a set of guiding principles, regulatory requirements, and input from the multidisciplinary Quality, Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Committee. The Quality, Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Committee receives information from external evidence-based sources for best practice care, administrators, providers, staff, and regulatory needs. Annual organizational goals and improvement projects are selected and implemented according to patient impact and organizational need.
Our multidisciplinary team is introduced to our culture of quality care and patient safety during new hire orientation, ongoing professional development, quality reviews and human resources initiatives. Embedded in this culture is a transparent reporting system that recognizes good catches, shares findings, and uses the common language of safety tools in huddles, peer reviews, department meetings and ongoing individual feedback. Recently, our Fall Committee worked diligently to reduce our fall rate by over 20% through the implementation of evidence-based protocols and safety measures.
